Guadalupe Covarrubias

I was born in Mexico, and studied law in Mexico City. I have been married for 18 years to my husband Jorge, who is also a lawyer. We have four German Shepherds: Beethoven, Inga, Frida and Roan with whom I spent most of my spare time.I have been working for almost seven years in my current position.

Business Career and Professional Development - Major Stages

1980: I was still in College, when I started as receptionist with General Re, little did I know that this would be the beginning of my professional career. A few months later, they began giving me various practical courses in life and non-life reinsurance. Besides this training I began to study the courses of LOMA (Life of Office Management Association).

1985: After the departure of General Re from Mexico I was invited to start a brokerage firm where we handled several reinsurers (Scor Vie, the London Market, Transamerica and Hamburg Re, currently Hannover Re). I decided to start providing training for our clients' underwriters. Since I have been with Hannover Re, the programme has expanded, we are now providing these courses in Central America and the Caribbean.

I am currently a member of the Review Committee of Spanish Texts of LOMA, also a founding member of the International Underwriting Congress and have been the president of ASERP (Mexican Association of Life Insurance Underwriters).
