Stephan Kasper
I was born in Munich 1962, where I spent my childhood. After finishing school, a two-year intermezzo near the Austrian border followed, where I served my time in the German army.
I'm married and have a five-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter. The one thing my wife and I miss most in Hannover are the mountains. So, during our holidays one will find us mainly somewhere between Munich and Northern Italy, addicted to our main hobbies skiing and hiking.
Education
In 1984, I returned to Munich to study mathematics, attracted by the fact that, compared to other subjects, the number of students was low and the variety of choices for my future professional career was high.
Business Career and Professional Development - Major Stages
1991: Frankona Re, a traditional German reinsurer owned at that time by Gerling. In the life reinsurance marketing department I found a good mix of actuarial work, international marketing and use of my language skills. After working two years on markets like Greece, Italy and Central Europe I changed to Frankona's core market Germany, where I was responsible for clients situated mainly in north Germany. 1996: SCOR started intensified activities on the German life market and I assumed responsibility for the life reinsurance department in the German subsidiary SCOR DEUTSCHLAND. The main task here was to establish the name SCOR in the market and to make it known as a serious and reliable partner for German life insurers. 1999: Hannover Life Re, head of roman speaking markets department. We have offices in Paris, Milan, Madrid and Mexico and my main focus lies on co-ordination, support and controlling for our local entities. But fortunately this does not prevent me from visiting these interesting countries and meeting many of our local clients.
