Education

I started studying mathematics, economy and computer science at the University of Marburg. I completed my studies at the University of Freiburg and graduated in mathematics. I am a qualified German Actuary (Aktuar DAV).

Business Career and professional development – major stages

1994: I began my professional career at Hannover Life Re, in the reinsurance market department dealing with Germany and Southeast Asia, where I gained experience in actuarial work, international reinsurance marketing and liaising with overseas’ offices. Later I supported the life reinsurance activities of the Hannover Re branch in Kuala Lumpur.

2000: I moved to Munich Re. Initially I was posted in Services (product development and marketing support), where we worked at enhancing Munich Re’s service activities in emerging markets, primarily in Asia. Then I moved to the Asian department to support the life reinsurance activities conducted via the branches in Singapore, Hong Kong and Beijing. This was followed by a stint in the newly established department Financial Solutions.

2007: I returned to Hannover Life Re to head the market department L1 that services the East and Southeast Asian markets. Currently we have branches and offices in Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and Tokyo, with more offices to be established in the near future, e.g. in Shanghai and Seoul. My primary focus lies on underwriting and marketing support for our Asian offices as well as promoting new business development. In addition to that I take on a supporting function for the Managing Director to facilitate the steerage of the business activities of our Asian offices.

Hobbies and Sports

I live with my partner Ursula and two daughters, Michelle and Vivienne.

I enjoy long hikes through the local forests and mountains as well as visiting old towns or historical sites. Beyond that I take pleasure in reading novels or listening to European classical music.
