Dr. Nicola-Alexander Sittaro

Education

I am a qualified banker and medical doctor. I studied medicine in Hannover and Bristol, specialised as an internist and practised for many years as an invasive cardiologists.

Business Career and professional Development - Major Stages

1989: I started working for one of the largest German primary insurance in Hamburg as a Medical Director. I also worked for the Hamburger International Reinsurance in the same position at the same time.

1992: I  changed to Hannover Re to head the medical service division.

The focus of my work in the last years has mainly been the implementation of epidemiological and bio-statistical data into guidelines for medical underwriting purposes. Furthermore I was very involved in product development and the development of PC-based systems for the support of medical underwriting processes.

2001: I was promoted to Medical Director, Life and Health.

Hobbies and Sports

I enjoy reading and consider Beckett, Kafka, Canetti and Zweig amongst my favourite authors. I also read anthropological and economical-historical books.

As far as sports are concerned I am fairly conservative. I take great pleasure in long hikes and bike tours as well as badminton. During my hikes I like to brainstorm about medical or actuarial problems - strangely enough my average trekking tour has increased from 15 km to 30 km.
