Retrocessions

The retrocessions of Hannover Life Re are co-ordinated in a special unit of Hannover Life Re, Hannover. Our retrocessions focus mainly on three areas :

• capacity for large sums insured
• relief for catastrophe claims
• refinancing of our business

Our retrocessionaires are diversified worldwide and consist mainly of highly rated, major North American companies.

Retrocessions reduce the volatility of our results and thus help us to maintain our excellent ratings from Standard & Poor’s and A.M. Best.

Notwithstanding the above, Hannover Life Re keeps most of the accepted business in its retention (nearly 90 % of the business).
